Best of 2018: Love Letters In Seattle

Happy 2019! I'm so excited that the new year is here even though I've been accidentally writing 2018 without thinking on almost everything that I touch. It's a hard habit to break partially because the year flew by so fast (I feel like the March nor'easters happened last week), and mostly because 2018 was such an important year for Berkshire North. When I started this venture in February of 2017, I had to devote most of my time to figuring out my processes, my business model and how to find work in an industry that I found intimidating at the time. After a difficult 2017, I finally began to find a balance between focusing on getting my workflow down and on growing as an artist. For my first posts of the new year, I want to share some of my favorite projects from the last 12 months, starting with this lovely set of engagement letters for the sweetest couple.

Mital and Nikhil were an absolute joy to work with and the words that they wrote to each other were simple and beautiful. For both letters, I chose to work with custom mixed ink on handmade cotton rag sheets that I washed in gold and green watercolor paint. His letter to her was pale green with gold accents and written in dark green ink. Her letter to him was deep hunter green and written in pale green ink (also flecked with gold). Both of these pieces were featured in a dazzling winter engagement shoot in the Seattle woods with the talented Ushna Khan behind the lens.
